Zoster Black Pyramid Butterflyfish (Hemitaurichthys Zoster)

The Zoster Butterflyfish, otherwise known as the Black Pyramid Butterflyfish, is black faced, white bodied fish and are accented with yellow tips. The white on their bodies form a triangular shape covering the middle of the body.

It is best to house these fish in 125 gallon tanks or larger with live rock and plenty of hiding places. This type of butterflyfish is reef compatible. They may pick at soft corals or Xenia, but that shouldn’t leave a huge effect on the reef environment. The Black Pyramid Butterflyfish is also rather peaceful and can be kept as singles, pair, or in small schools.

The diet of the Zoster Butterflyfish should include: frozen preparations, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine algae, and freeze-dried food.
