Scribbled Mappa Puffer (Arthron Mappa)
Description
The Mappa Puffer, otherwise known as the Scribbled Arothron Puffer, the Map Puffer, and the Scribbled Toadfish, are mottled in appearance. They are colored in a range of tans to dark yellows with black scribbles across their bodies and their pectoral and caudal fins are lined with the same dark yellow.
It is best to keep these fish in a 300 gallon tank or larger with room for swimming and a suitable protein skimmer. Puffer fish are known for puffing as a defense mechanism and can inflate twice their normal size when feeling scared or threatened. Keep in mind, these fish are not reef aquarium compatible and are known for eating invertebrates such as hard-shelled mollusks and corals. They are easily alarmed by nets, so should be transferred with containers.
Diet
The diet of the Leopard Puffer should include: krill, clams, squid, and hard shelled shrimp to soften their teeth.
