Scribbled / Bimaculatus Anthias Female (Pseudanthias bimaculatus)

The Bimaculatus Anthias, otherwise known as the Twinspot Anthias or the Twospot Anthias, are a type of fish that exhibits sexual dimorphism. Female Bimaculatus Anthias are pink bodied with yellow dorsal, caudal, and anal fins, while males have a vibrant reddish pink. They have spots on their dorsal fins and jagged pink bars that run across their bodies.

It is best to house the Bimaculatus Anthias in a 125 gallon tank with room for swimming and plenty of several hiding places. These fish do well when they are in groups that consist of one male and several females. Anthias are hermaphroditic. If the dominant male in the aquarium perishes, the largest female of the group will change genders to take its role.

The diet of the Bimaculatus Anthias should include: frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, flake foods, and live food from a refugium which cultivates copepods and amphipods.
