Reticulated Puffer (Arothron reticularis)
Reticulated Puffers are known for their net-like patterning. Their mottled brown and yellow body which features decorative stripes and spots similar to the Stars & Stripes Puffer, give them an enchanting look.
It is best to house the Reticulated Puffer in a 150 gallon tank or larger with plenty of live rock for hiding, a good filtration system, and a good protein skimmer. These fish can be kept in reef aquariums but with caution. Their beak-like mouths are rather strong and can be used for crushing and eating some invertebrates. Pufferfish are known for puffing as a defense mechanism and can inflate twice their normal size when feeling scared or threatened. When transferring Puffers, it is best to use containers versus nets.
The diet of the Reticulated Puffer should include: krill, squid, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to soften their teeth.
