Raccoon Butterflyfish (Chaetodon lunula)
Raccoon Butterflyfish are yellow lipped with black and white patch masking over and around their eyes. They are for the most part, yellow-orange in body, but their upper bodies are darker in color with diagonal black patterned stripes.
It is best to house the Raccoon Butterflyfish in a 125 gallon tank or larger with live rock, plenty of room for swimming, and multiple hiding spots. This type of fish is not reef compatible. It eats and picks at soft and stony corals (sessile invertebrates) and anemones. This type of butterflyfish is rather peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful butterflyfish and fish of other species.
The diet of the Raccoon Butterflyfish should include: meaty foods, mysis shrimp, crustacean flesh, and frozen preparations. If at first your Raccoon Butterflyfish is refusing to eat, try feeding it small anemone.
