Powder Brown Tang (Acanthurus Japonicus)

Powder Brown Tangs, Lollypop Tang or the Japan Surgeonfish, are brown in body with a white mark that extends from their lips to their eyes. Their dorsal, pectoral, and anal fins are dark brown with bright blue tips, and their dorsal fin also has an orange stripe. Their tails are blue with a yellow bar, and a striking yellow wishbone marking, lines their bodies against their anal and dorsal fins.

The best environment for the Powder Brown Tang is a 125 gallon tank or larger for room for swimming and live rock for hiding. They are peaceful towards most tankmates, but they tend to be aggressive towards other tangs or surgeonfish, so it is best to keep only one Powder Brown Tang per tank.

Although tangs will eat meaty foods, they prefer marine based seaweed and algae which will boosts their immune system, reduce aggression, and improve overall health. To feed them, tie dried seaweed to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week.
