Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon)

The Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus Leucosternon) is well known for its bright colors and bold markings which vary from blue, yellow, and white. Their faces and tails are marked with a vivid blue-black outline. Dorsally and across the pectoral region, their fins are a bright yellow.

The best environment for a Powder Blue Tang is a 125 gallon or larger tank to provide ample swimming room. Powder Blues can be aggressive towards other tangs or surgeonfish, especially those similar in shape and color, but they are generally peaceful towards other types of fish.

Although tangs will eat meaty foods, they prefer marine based seaweed and algae which will boosts their immune system, reduce aggression, and improve overall health. To feed them, tie dried seaweed to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week.
