Narrow Lined Puffer (Arothron manilensis)

The Narrow Lined Puffers are large in body with small mouths and big eyes. These fish are milky white in color with tan concentric banding from head to tail. Their caudal fins are lined with a brown/black border, while their eyes are rimmed in a  light caramel color.

It is best to house the Narrow Lined Puffer in a 125 gallon tank or larger with live rock for hiding, a good protein skimmer, and a good filtration system. These fish can be kept in reef aquariums but with caution. Their beak-like mouths are rather strong and can be used for crushing and eating some invertebrates. Pufferfish are known for puffing as a defense mechanism and can inflate twice their normal size when feeling scared or threatened. When transferring Puffers, it is best to use containers versus nets.

The diet of the Narrow Lined Puffer should include: krill, squid, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to soften their teeth.
