Maculosus Angelfish (Pomacanthus maculosus)


The Maculosus Angelfish has many common names. those names include halfmoon angelfish, yellowband angelfish, and yellowbar angelfish. It inhabits the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf as well as the north western areas of the Indian Ocean. Maculosus Angelfishes prefer to live in coral and rocky areas where the water is no deeper than 40 feet, they usually live in solitude. Maculosus Angelfish can grow to be 18 inches.


Maculosus Angels tend to be aggressive towards other larger angelfish. Its is best to keep this angelfish in a large tank with other bigger agressive fish. This fish is not ideal for a reef aquarium due to the fact that they enjoy to feed on stony and soft coral.



Maculosus Angels are omnivores. They will consume meaty foods as well as algae based foods. Be sure to feed a varity of foods including mixtures that contain sponges to ensure the health of your Maculosus Angelfish.
