Leopard Puffer (Canthigaster leoparda)
The Leopard Puffer, also known as the Leopard Toby Puffer, are pointed in face. They are a pale iridescent white color and are marked with blue and tan striped patterning along faces and dorsal regions of their bodies. Across their upper halves, they are spotted with bold black marks. These fish lack pelvic fins, which force them to learn how to maneuver around with their pectoral, dorsal, and anal fins.
It is best to keep the Leopard Puffer in a 30 gallon tank or larger. These fish can be kept in reef aquariums but with caution. Their beak-like mouths are rather strong and can be used for crushing and eating some invertebrates. Puffer fish are known for puffing as a defense mechanism and can inflate twice their normal size when feeling scared or threatened.
The diet of the Leopard Puffer should include: krill, squid, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to soften their teeth.
