Huchtii RedCheek Anthias (Pseudanthias huchtii)
Description
The Huchtii Anthias, otherwise known as the Green Anthias or the Redcheek Anthias, are a type of fish that exhibits gender dimorphism. Male Huchtii Anthias are a greenish yellow color with an orange stripe that runs down from the eye to the pectoral fin. Their fins are lined with an electric blue color and are often highlighted in yellow and orange. Female Huchtii Anthias are less vibrant in comparison to their male counterparts, but they do share the striking orange stripe beneath the eye.
It is best to house the Huchtii Anthias in a 125 gallon tank or larger with plenty of hiding places and room for swimming. Anthias are hermaphroditic. If the dominant male in the aquarium perishes, the largest female of the group will change genders to take its role.
Diet
The diet of the Huchtii Anthias should include: frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, flake foods, and live food from a refugium which cultivates copepods and amphipods.
