The Guineafowl Pufferfish, otherwise known as the Arothron Puffer, Golder Puffer or Spotted Puffer, change their appearances during different stages in their lives. These fish go through three phases: the black phase, the mottled phase, and the golden puffer phase. During the black phase, the Guineafowl are black-blue in body with white spots. During the mottled phase, they are yellow with black and white patterning, and during the golden puffer phase, they are yellow with black spots.

It is best to house the Guineafowl Pufferfish in a 125 gallon fish-only tank with room for swimming.  Puffer fish are known for puffing as a defense mechanism and can inflate twice their normal size when feeling scared or threatened. Keep in mind, these fish are not reef aquarium compatible and are known for eating invertebrates such as hard-shelled mollusks, sponges and corals. These fish are peaceful, and can be kept with fish of its own kind.

Diet

The diet of the Guineafowl Pufferfish should include: krill, squid, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to soften their teeth.
