Brown Bird Wrasse Female (Gomphosus varius)
Bird Wrasses are fish with elongated snouts used for catching prey and for breaking up food into small pieces. These fish are demonstrate sexual dimorphism. Female Bird Wrasses are tan in body with brownish-black spots, and their dorsal, anal, and caudal fins are lined in brown. Male Bird Wrasses are colored in different variations of green.It is best to house the Bird Wrasse in a 125 gallon tank or larger with live rock for hiding and a tight-fitted lid to keep it from escaping. These fish are semi-aggressive and can be kept with other fish. If keeping as mated pairs, introduce the female to the tank first. Also, do note that they are not reef compatible.
The diet of the Bird Wrasse should include: meaty foods such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp, marine algae, marine pellets, and marine flakes.
