The Banded Snake Eel are tubular, black and white banded creatures with dark blotches in between their bands. These sea snakes have pointed heads with large nostrils which give them an excellent sense of smell for hunting prey. They lack fins, but they have long bodies that help them maneuver across seagrass.
It is best to keep the Banded Snake Eel in a 60 gallon tank or larger with room for swimming, thick layers of sand for hiding, and seagrass to stimulate a natural environment. They are rather peaceful and can be kept in a fish-only aquarium, but be sure not to add fish small enough to fit in their mouths. These eels are reef safe.
The diet of the Banded Snake Eel should include: chopped shrimp, shrimp, and clams.
